Sorts are something I use on a daily basis. The hands-on approach helps my students learn and remember. I have found many sorts in the Kagan Balanced Literacy book that were already pre-made...some as sorts and some as other activities but that can be used in a similar fashion. Other times, I make the sorts that we use. That was the case for these Text Structure sorts. They are not fancy at all! For one, I wrote the type of structure on one card and glued an example on the other card. For the other sort (attached below), I have the type, a definition, and the graphic organizer that represents that structure. The final sort came from the Kagan book.
